1. On this device
Plant photos you save for your garden, reminder preferences, and ratings can stay on your phone.
2. Signed-in account
When you sign in (Firebase email or Google), profile fields and garden metadata may sync to our servers. Identify, Diagnose, and Ask Botanist use our online service when you are connected.
3. Photos
Photos you take or pick for Identify, Diagnose, Ask Botanist, or your profile are used only to provide those features. We do not sell your photos.
Garden plant photos you keep locally stay on this phone unless you choose to sync related data while signed in.
4. Permissions
Camera, photos, microphone, and notifications are requested only when needed for those features. You can change permissions in your device settings.
5. Location
If you allow location access, the app sends your rounded location with plant identification requests to improve results. You can turn this off anytime in your phone settings.
6. Data we may process
- Account email and profile info
- Plant and leaf images you upload for AI features
- Usage needed to run the service and enforce fair use
- Your name, email and message if you write to us through the contact form on our website. We keep them so we can reply and don’t use them for anything else.
7. Our website
Our website counts how many times each blog post is opened. This count doesn’t include any information about you.
8. Support and safety
To run the service and help with support, our team can see account details, usage counts and garden data that your app syncs while you’re signed in. We don’t see photos stored only on your phone.
10. Security
Data in transit uses HTTPS/TLS where the app talks to our servers.
11. Delete your account
In the app, go to Privacy → Delete account. After you confirm, this removes your Firebase account and related cloud data, and clears UID-scoped local data on the device as designed.
12. Children
GreenScan is not directed at children under 13.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
